With the current pandemic spreading throughout the world, our organization carried on with the plans of helping the homeless in Dallas yesterday afternoon. We partnered with @popupcomfort to provide fresh pizza, snacks, water and hygienic care kits to the locals in the area. The world may seem to be on fire right now but continuing to do acts of kindness in the community is needed more than ever! The CDC recommends “social distancing” by staying inside your house. Unfortunately for the homeless, they have nowhere to go and still are on the streets. This drive was a gesture that might be small to others but one that goes a long way! Don’t worry, we were able to conduct this drive by keeping the recommended distance of 6ft between each other, prepping everything with gloves and sanitizing afterwards. We did not gather our volunteers this go around but nevertheless, we got the job done!! Let’s continue to uplift each other during this intense time of need!!!

SAVE THE DATE ✨ On Sunday, March 22nd we will be partnering with @popupcomfort to feed the homeless in downtown Dallas at 1pm! 😃 BBQ, snacks, water and carekits will be provided for those who are in the homeless community. . . Feel free to come join us and share this with your friends/family! You’d be surprised how your presence can make someone’s day. ✨ (We will have the exact location of the park soon!!)

In honor of Valentine’s Day and simply giving back, our organization participated in @popupcomfort’s #ActOfKindness for this week. ❤️🤍💓❤️ . . Our Directors and members wrote Valentine’s Day cards filled with words of encouragement, as well as, donated snacks for the residents at the Senior Care and Health Rehab Center. 😃 Never underestimate the power of kind gestures. You’d be surprised how they can make someone’s day! . . We’re looking forward to partnering with Popup Comfort in the near future. Check out their page and website to catch their next event!!

Did you know that the NAACP was founded today in 1909 by a group of activists such as W.E.B. Du Bois, Mary White Ovington, Moorfield Storey and Ida B. Wells? . . After The Race Riot of 1908 in Springfield, Illinois it was a catalyst showing the urgent need for an effective civil rights organization in the U.S. In the decades around the turn of the century, the rate of lynchings of blacks, particularly men, was at an all-time high. . . History was made by these brave individuals who went forth to make a difference in the community for people of color. Their purpose is “to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination." 111 years later and the organization is still going strong! 👏🏾

In today's Black History Month post, we're spotlighting 5 special ladies for making history by sweeping the 2019 pageants and showing the world #blackgirlsrock! . . • Miss World: Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica, • Miss Universe: Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa • Miss USA: Cheslie Kryst from North Carolina • Miss Teen USA: Kaliegh Garris from Connecticut • Miss America: Nia Franklin from New York This was one of the most exciting stories to us from 2019 and we're looking forward to seeing more history making moments in 2020 and years to come. 😄 You go ladies! 💞💞 You all are truly an inspiration!!! 🙌🏾
