The Word: Food For My Spirit

Reading The Word of God has changed my life vastly. Very quickly. It nourishes my soul and provides Godly wisdom. Throughout the various amounts of life situations, the Bible tends to have a story and an answer for each & every single one of them.

People tend to think that since The Word is from the “past”, that it is not valuable nor relevant enough to help us through the situations that we face today. Well I am here to say that is simply wrong!

One thing I love about WordPress is the community that precedence itself here. It’s another way for my spirit to feed on the word. By conversing with other believers and reading their opinions about spirituality.

________________________________________
God tells us that the more time we spend meditating on and speaking His Word, the more we will see the benefits in our everyday lives and even have a closer relationship with Him. He even promises we’ll be prosperous and successful! (See Joshua 1:8).

I can testify to this because I have made it through many trials and even devastating times by believing and confessing the Word of God over my life. There’s something powerful that happens when we speak His Word out loud. It’s the way we learn to purposely think right thoughts, especially when we make the Scriptures personal confessions of faith.

It’s great to read the Word and receive it in your heart, but when you confess it out loud, you actively interact with what God says and release its power into your life.

I encourage you to spend time reading and meditating on God’s Word, lining your thoughts up with it. But I also urge you to speak the Word.
You can make up your mind to work toward changing your life by saying what God says. Read His Word and speak it over your circumstances today.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Prayer Starter: “God, I want to release the full power of Your Word into my life. Along with reading and thinking about Your Word, I choose today to speak it over my life.” – Please set a prayer for those affected by the church shooting down in south Texas. I am praying that they do not resent God nor the church due to someone else’s senseless actions.

Reblog: Charlottesville Wake Up Call — BeautyBeyondBones

Check out BeautyBeyondBones’s blog post called “Charlottesville Wake Up Call” …

It is a deep and sore topic that surely needs to be discussed/acknowledged by all.

I didn’t want to write this post. A topic of this magnitude, and the tragedy that befell our nation on Saturday was something that I cannot find the adequate words to describe. I was asked by numerous readers to write about Saturday’s Charlottesville terrorism, and truthfully, I’m sick to my stomach thinking about the grossly […]

Note To Self : GET IT GIRL! 🙌

Starting your day with a positive mindset is truly critical. What you implement into your mind during the first, early hours of your day can really mold/reflect how you will walk out the rest of your day.

If you wake up in dread and anxiety; the actions that you perform will reflect that.

Our thoughts lead to actions which lead to various repercussions that we now have to face due to said actions.

Another element that is not talked about often is: intentions. I believe that our intentions have tremendous power as well. Because intentions reflect the reality of where our hearts lie.

Last night, I decided that I need some work regarding the topic of: self-love. I realized that I do not express as much self-love to myself as I should. My flesh naturally associates self-love to being vain or arrogant. Which is NOT the case. Of course with today’s society, the world will try to make you question not only:

  • Who you are,
  • How you look,
  • What others think about you,
  • Etc….

The list goes on….

We all have unwanted thoughts that come to our minds and we must speak against them. We cannot let them stay or muster within, because it will start to nitpick at you… slowly growing into a serious problem.

Those hurtful and negative thoughts can seriously lead you to depression and death itself IF you let them. The devil would love for us all to drive off a cliff, ending something that is already temporary. (Yes, this world is temporary. It is not our HOME.)

As I am in flesh, along with you guys, I constantly have to remind myself that The Lord needs us to realize the amount of power that we withhold. We have been given the power to move mountains and I declare to remove/move all of the negativity that the devil is trying to mount upon me and my fellow family in Christ.

SO TODAY, I am taking charge and will not settle for any negative thoughts about myself or others around me. I will solely focus on who God created me to be and walking out in His Divine Authority that was given to be by Jesus Christ. This morning I wrote a note to myself stating:

As being a child of the Most High,

  • I am WORTHY!
  • I am VICTORIOUS!
  • I am BEAUTIFUL!
  • I have blissful access to God’s Divine Authority!! *high fives self* haha

All of that not only sounds powerful, but it is POWERFUL!

Speak positivity into you and your families lives today! You have access to Divine Authority! 🙂

The Right Time To Walk Away

Question of the day: “When is the right time to walk away?

I have been dabbling on this question for months regarding my current job. Not only has there been mental challenges but spiritual challenges as well during my time of being at this company. I am a very level headed individual who evaluates all variables of the situation and analyzes each one before I make any moves.

My first impression of the company was very eye opening. It is a small business that had a total of 8 employees when I started last August. As a back story, I took a year off from working to get more involved in the community and to take initiative on prepping to become a full time missionary.

I had no idea that there was a raging atheist who belittles all human beings that crossed her path, waiting for me as I arrived. What made matters worse, was that the CEO(s) were very much aware of it and thought (still think) it is okay to have someone like that work for them. The same day I walked in that place and ever since; I was ritually told if I wore a “Jesus Loves Me” t-shirt or disclosed anything about Christ, that it would be offensive to “others”.

I didn’t even ask about the religious “rules” and “do not’s” of the company. The vile words that were being spilled upon me were extremely inappropriate and were personally offensive to me. In the same day, I witnessed this dehumanizing person talk down to a younger gentleman telling him that he was retarded, stupid, no good and was basically useless; not only in the job environment but in life altogether. This was not only daily, or weekly, but full time… non-stop. I’ve even witnessed her saying that she understands why parents drown their children. The list of the disgusting things that have been said could go on for days.

I got home that night wondering, “God, what did I get myself into? What type of company am I working for?

I know most corporations have the rule of “no religion in the workplace”. Mind you, this business is a “mom and pop” business. The CEO’s are a married couple who are in their 40s’; who also told me that they grew up in the church. When it comes to small businesses as such, they have the power to make their own rules and violations.

But for some reason if I ever wore a “I (no reference to you) am loved by Christ” shirt/pendant/etc… it would be “offensive”. There was only ONE person who openly disclosed how much they hated my Lord and Savior. This person kept mentioning how a shirt or any Christian paraphernalia would be offensive to her, but never considered that the vile things she said offended others as well. (double standards)

What is also crazIER about the situation is, this said person talks about going to church every other Sunday with her boyfriend. So you can tolerate hearing about Jesus at church but having a shirt that says “He loves ME” offends you?

WOW!

There is a lot more that has happened over the year that I have been apart of this business. I have witnessed the worst turnover rate ever while working here. The previous people that have left, personally contacted me after the fact, mentioning that they left because of this said person. Over 15 people have left within 6 months of this year. 9 of them were for the same position. That should say A LOT.

You guys… the moral of this post is I became so worn out. Day in and day out, my spirit was being “masked” while being in the office. My energy was depleted. I was becoming someone that God did not make me to be. I let people say horrible things about everything that I stand for. I have never been in a corporation that did not have a legit HR. HR is around for matters just like these and worse.

Over this year, I have personally sat my boss aside letting her know the damage it was doing to me and her company. Each time, my boss told me that she would do something about it and never did. One of the times, she even said that she heard me being verbally abused but did not want to “step on anyone’s toes”.
I know that there are many times that God keeps us somewhere for a reason. If it is to be a witness to someone or be a light altogether… it is for a purpose. I was learning to endure hardship… taking many mental notes. After constantly praying, listening and meditating… I knew it was officially the right time to walk away. I have learned all that I could from this place. Staying any longer would not be healthy. It is like being in an abusive relationship for so long, where you start to believe the lies that “it is all you are worth”.

WELP, yesterday I put my two weeks notice in!! I already feel so much better and relieved. I have enough money saved to cover months ahead for rent. I thank God for the courage to finally break loose. Hallelujah!

SMILE! It’s The Least You Can Do!

Everyone knows how to smile. It’s one of the greatest gifts God has given us. A smile makes people feel good, and people look so beautiful when they smile. When the joy in your life is obvious, it rubs off on others. But when you keep God’s joy locked inside you and don’t allow it to show on your face, you’re depriving those around you of a pleasant and refreshing experience.

Most people really don’t understand how expressing joy will change their circumstances and, perhaps, the lives of others. Living your life with the joy of the Lord will chase off negative, depressing circumstances. And when we have His joy deep down inside of us, we can’t help but put it on display by smiling!

One act of kindness that delights the Holy Spirit is being kind to our enemies. It actually confuses them on the fact that you are going out of your way to be nice to them even when they know they do not deserve it. The Lord tells us to love and bless our enemies. Which we all know, requires Holy strength to do. To actually perform this act sounds easier than it is, but it pleases God to the highest extent.

” 38 You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also; 40 if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well; …” Matthew 5: 38-40

I never would have thought that smiling was such a serious matter, but God has shown me how revolutionary a simple smile can be. Expressing joy through the calm delight of smiling brings good things into your own life and shares the joy and light of the Lord with others, so smile! It is the least you can do. (and it’s FREE 🙂 )

I pray that my readers have a wonderful Thursday.

Stay content.

Endure.

You are an OVERCOMER!!

Thursday Devotional: “Wait with Patience” by Joyce Meyer

Good Morning fellow readers!

Friday is only one day away, BUT I surely need a “pick me up” to get me through this day that is laid out in front of me.

Reading a daily devotional helps me tremendously. It gives me a certain topic/scripture to meditate on during work, during lunch and even after work. The one for today is an excerpt by Joyce Meyer about waiting with patience. Patience is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and without a doubt, I ask the Lord for more of it each day. As the pressures of life continue to build, so should our patience with God and his will for our lives.

Take a look and have a wonderful day everyone!

Many people want change, but they don’t want to go through the waiting process. But the truth is, waiting is a given, we are going to wait. The question is, are we going to wait the wrong or right way? If we wait the wrong way, we’ll be miserable; but if we decide to wait God’s way, we can become patient and actually enjoy the wait.

It takes practice, but as we let God help us in each situation, we develop patience, which is one of the most important Christian virtues. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. It’s developed only under trial, so we must not run from difficult situations.

As we develop patience, the Bible says we finally feel completely satisfied, lacking nothing. Even our relationship with God involves progressive changes. We learn to trust Him in a deeper way by going through many experiences that require us to wait longer than we’d like.

Trust me, the waiting may be hard, but it will make you stronger. The benefits that patience brings are certainly worth any uncomfortable wait!

Prayer Starter: God, I want to change and grow deeper in my relationship with You. I understand that this means developing patience, but I know that I will grow stronger as You develop patience in me.”

Now, In This Moment & Forever More

Each day as it gets further and further away from January 1st, 2017 I think to myself. “What is taking me so long?!“. As time itself is an essence, I can see it slip away by the minute.

Until today, I have yet to post anything for 2017.

Have been stalling?!?

MAYBE 😅

As much as my spirit has been longing to post, I have been pretty occupied with something that we all love called work.

I am not sure about you guys, but I have a habit of getting into this thing called “zombie mode” when I get home from work. Nothing but SLEEP sounds good to me. Frankly enough, it is extremely hard for me to shake out of it as well.

Hahah (YUP, SPONGEBOB I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL)

I tend to get caught up in my day to day activities and forget to take a break and dedicate my mental space to Jesus.

When I finally do just that…

I close my eyes.

Take a deep breathe.

And listen ever so closely.

As the room becomes quiet, it is also just as loud. I can hear the Lord’s wisdom deep within my mind and body.

It is in tune with my soul.

In this very moment of solitude I image myself as this woman in the picture above. Stretched out in perfect serenity. Looking upon the glistening body of water ; (representing sprinkles of blessings that the Lord has so graciously provided). Blessings from the first day that I was born into this world all the way up to this exact hour. I can look down into the water and see His work being written along the waves.

GRACE

MERCY

GENTLENESS

PATIENCE

KIND

PURE LOVE (Apage)

There’s a song by Kirk Franklin called “It Would Take All Day”. It describes how long it would physically take to express thanksgiving unto the Lord for all of the amazing things that he has done. As fantastic as our Lord is, he surely deserves praise and worship from each and every one of us. It is one of the sole purposes that we are here.
Now, in this moment withholds truth and understanding. For I know I will not always understand what is going on in this orchestra of life; But the truth of God will always stand. No matter how chaotic each day exceeds to; I must continue to stop and align my thoughts with the Lord’s.

In this moment and forever more.

Stay encouraged and Encourage someone else along the way.

Sincerely,

Alyssa

CHAOS On The Battlefield of Life

Hello my lovely followers! Forgive me for being so absent from my blog. Life has been throwing a few curveballs at me. Don’t worry! God has been showing tremendous amounts of favor and grace. I can not complain!! I pray that you all have been prospering in more ways than one. I look forward to reading your blogs as always! ❤️

Today has been an interesting day. My stomach has been uneasy from hearing and witnessing something very unfortunate. This morning I arrived to work promptly as usual. I noticed that a strange truck was parked outside my office. I didn’t think too much of it at the time…I parked two spots away from him and continued with my day as normal.

Around  10am, that very man ending up taking his life inside of his car. With no clue of who he is and what was going through his head at the time… he made a permanent decision over something that was temporary. I do not know his story but I know everything on this earth is temporary. This life will seem like a mere memory compared to eternity.

The first few thoughts to pop up in my head were:

  • I need to pray for his soul and his family members.
  • What if he came into the job and decided to to take someone else’s life along with his?”
  • What was so bad that he felt like his only way out was suicide?

I am not exactly sure what to think. 😓 But in the meantime, I have been praying. There’s a chance that this man could’ve decided to walk 5ft away from his truck and walk into our office building to create more heart wrenching chaos.

BUT GOD HAD DIFFERENT PLANS.

As we go about day to day, I believe we all tend to forget how precious each second of life is. Yes, this may sound corny but it is the truth. We go through the same routines everyday, growing a blind eye to the many blessings and grace around us.

If you ever come across someone that seems to be down in the dumps, take a few minutes out of your day to try to cheer them up. It won’t hurt right? Showing such love and compassion could actually help save their lives!

I stumbled across this excerpt by Joyce Meyer helped me out this evening. While you’re here you might as well CHECK IT OUT!!! ❤️

“It’s the most outrageous thing. The more I think about it, the more amazed I am. It gives blessings that are undeserved and withholds punishment when it is deserved. It’s absolutely the greatest gift you can give someone.

This gift is called mercy. See, Jesus came to earth and gave us mercy, so we need to learn to give mercy to others.

By Christ’s example, we’re taught to love and pray for our enemies. We’re taught to be friendly to those who do not treat us as we would like to be treated. We are told to give to and care for the poor and helpless who will never be able to pay us back.

We can give to people who will give us gifts in return. But we’re more blessed when we choose to give to those who cannot pay us back, that’s giving mercy.

The greatest gift you can give God is to become more like Jesus. You can do that by treating others the way He treated you. Give those around you the greatest gift they could ever receive from you: mercy

Prayer Starter: God, I thank You for the mercy that You selflessly give me every day. I choose now to give that mercy to others. Every chance I get, I will show them the mercy that You have shown me.”

Life is a Beach, Enjoy it!

Good evening everyone! OH! How I have missed posting on my blog and reading yours as well! 😊 I hope that you all have been doused with prosperity and full of joy during my days away.

These past few months I have been taking advantage of my time away from the office life of corporate America. In April I went to Kansas City, in June I went to Denver and in July I visited Lousiana and Destin, Florida! Each place created such precious memories that I will cherish forever. ❤️

My family and I were fortunate enough to spot plenty of Dolphins during the trip!! I will never forget that moment when I was on the boat in Destin, FL gazing at the blue skies and crystal clear water. Simply in awe of God’s beautiful artwork. I thought about how much God wants me to enjoy every bit of this life that he has graciously blessed me with.
With the daily chaos that life brings, it’s easy to forget that we are here for a purpose.

God’s purpose!!

Let yourself know that it’s okay to enjoy your life!

Enjoyment is the fuel we need to reach the finish line of an endeavor with a good attitude. We may drive ourselves to finish, but somewhere along the way we will probably become bitter and get a chip on our shoulder if we don’t lighten up and take time to celebrate the journey. 😊

Too many people work constantly and stress themselves out, feeling guilty about enjoying and celebrating life when God has clearly ordained and commanded both labor and enjoyment. Ecclesiastes 2:24 says that it’s good for us to relax and enjoy ourselves in the midst of hard work.

Our thinking has been warped in this area. Satan has managed to deceive us, and by doing so he succeeds in keeping people weary and worn-out, feeling resentful and taken advantage of because of excessive work and responsibility.

We need times of refreshment and recreation as well as work and accomplishment. You should be diligent in whatever task God has placed in front of you, but make sure that you find a balance by learning to reward yourself and enjoy life. God thinks you are worth it!

Although it is late in the evening, I wanted to send out some encouragement to my followers. You are loved by the Most High!! Stay strong during the rest of the week. You can do it!! Enjoy your life! ❤️😊

Prayer Starter: “God, I realize now that You want me to enjoy my life and reward myself. Instead of feeling guilty and never stopping for a break, I choose today to experience the joy that You planned for me.”
