Weekend Sketch : My Dog Toby

This weekend I tried to draw my lovely dog (Toby). It was my first time sketching him and I can definitely say it turned out a lot better than I anticipated! 🙂 I am not 100% finished but WAHHHLAH!

I am going to try to challenge myself to draw something new each day of this week. Wish me “luck” or better yet, pray for me! haha I dare you guys to try something new as well.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Florida Adventures Pt. 2

It is only been two weeks since I was in Florida with my family. Sitting here at work and looking at these gorgeous photos is not helping either. lol My carefree spirit is longing to make that vacation a PERMANENT one. 😉 The picture above consists of my older sister (Kristin) and myself. We were in Destin, FL. Where the clear water and dolphins abide.  If you have not visited this lovely area, PLEASE DO! You will not regret it loves.

We so happened to come across the most skilled sandcastle that I have ever seen!            (In Destin, FL)

The harbor/boat dock area in Destin, FL has a Margaritaville location. I do not indulge a lot but couldn’t help but to try one out! 🙂

We have checked out Pensacola & Destin  before but we were extremely curious to see Panama City Beach. Of course this destination has always been known to have college students take over for Spring Break. One thing that was very different in Panama City was the long piers that they have. I believe this pier was roughly 1500 feet long! As we kept walking further and further out on the pier, the more it looked like we were in the middle of the ocean.

As we were soaking up the sun on the pier, we noticed that there was a dolphin right under us. What a sight to see! They are beautiful creatures!!

Tip of The Day: Pamper Yourself Weekly!

Taking care of your mind, body and spirit is extremely important. I encourage everyone to take the time out of their to figure out how you can pamper yourself into an relaxing state.
Drifting away and forgetting about all of the temporary problems that you are currently experiencing.
The Activities I like to conduct to pamper myself are :

  • Taking a hot bubble bath : Candles lit with music playing .. The works! (Try using a bath bomb from Lush Cosmetics. They are AMAZING! )
  • Facial Masks : Men don’t worry you can use them too. 😊
  •  Waxing my legs : (haha) Yes I consider such “pain” to be relaxing to me 😅😂
  • Kayaking : Another outlet where I personally feel connected to God’s nature.
  • Drawing : another great outlet that I use
  • Swimming : Lake or pool. Very relaxing

Think of some ideas that will help to be an outlet for yourself.  Although life does not slow down or stop; we personally have to take out time from our friends, family, and work life to center and recharge ourselves.
I found an article that goes further into dept of why self-care is important. If you have the time, keep reading. Might find out something new. 🙂

“Not only does relaxing remove or reduce the ill effects of stress, but it generates positive effects of its own. It’s been known for a quite a while that relaxation can produce a lot of great effects on the body, including lowered blood pressure, reduced muscle tension and pain, and improved concentration and mood. Recent studies have looked at the effects of relaxation in more depth, and the results are impressive.

Relaxation triggers a genetic response that leads to improved function at a cellular level in the body. Mitochondria, which are the “batteries that power cells,” become more resilient. Insulin production, which controls energy conversion, is boosted. Telomeres, which protect chromosomes (part of DNA), experience an extended lifespan. It was also found that these changes are more pronounced the longer you practice relaxation techniques, but results become apparent after as little as two months of regular relaxation.

Relaxing self-care activities also trigger the production of the body’s “feel-good” hormones, like serotonin and oxytocin. These hormones are connected to better moods, better sleep, and naturally-occurring pain-relief.
Anything that relaxes you will aid in your self-care.”

Florida Adventures Pt. 1

For the FIRST TIME EVER, I actually went ziplining. While I was on my family vacation, I thought “Where would be a better place to zipline than the great and adventurous state of Florida?!” What made it even more exciting is the fact that my mom nor my sisters wanted to give it a try with me.

BUT HEY!!! It’s okay, I understand. Heights, standing on raggedy pine wood and flying down line cables aren’t for everyone. As matter of fact, we had a group of 7 people come along this tour. One of the seven was truly afraid of heights and wanted to prove to her daughter and her daughter’s friends that she can face her fears.

(video above of first line on the tour)

I can’t remember how high we were on this first line but, the following lines definitely went higher from there. As this young lady tries to overcome her fears, the wooden pole & plank that we are standing on begins to suddenly shake. She grabs onto the pole with her dear life. 5 minutes later… she climbs back down the ladders ; which was just in time before the tour geared up full speed ahead.

After the first line, there is only one more emergency exit line before you are officially stuck on the tour. So, we go to the 2nd one. Now realizing that her mom is now off the tour and she is stuck with just her friends; the daughter insists that she take the exit line to leave the group.

I give them props for even trying as they did. One thing that sucks is the fact that they couldn’t get their $95ea. refunded for the tour.

As for me, I completed the tour. 🙂 It was a thrilling and authentic experience that I will always think of. I will say, the mosquito’s out there were VICIOUS!!!!! They attacked me with a mean vengeance. Haha. My face and my arms were covered in bites.  (Yay Nature!!!) haha

The last line was over their bigger creek. I can say I truly felt like Tarzan going down this line.

Each pole had a chart of facts about the line that we were about to go down. The final zipline was 65 feet high and 900 feet long. ONE QUESTION: Can I go again?!? 🙂

If you haven’t ziplined before, I would definitely recommend doing it. This weekend, try going out and creating some fun for yourself. Depending on where you live I am sure you can find a spot to kayak, hike or even indoor participate in indoor rock climbing.

Have a great day everyone!!

Tuesday’s Verse of The Day

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Today is Tuesday! It’s not necessarily in the middle of the work week but we are getting there. Today I am going to challenge myself to mediate on this verse moment by moment.
When I catch myself mediating on God’s word, all of the worries of the world seem to fade in the background. That’s the blissfulness that I need and love the most. Do the same and let me know how your day goes!
