A Greater Influence

One lovely weekend, I drove 30 minutes away to pick my younger sister up from college. She goes to this university called UNT (University of North Texas). It is the college that my whole immediate family has attended. My family is a legacy full of UNT students. My sister Alex is very different compared to your average young adults. She is only 19 years old and she has a retro style that is straight from the 70’s. When she speaks, it may not always be what you want to hear but it tends to be what you need to hear. We often have deep conversations about God and his goodness. It’s always nice to have someone that you can converse with about the Lord. My immediate family are my “go-to” people when I have to get something off of my chest. I am sure you have people that you run to for support in your life.

When my sister and I arrived back to my apartment complex, I immediately went to walk my dog outside to let him get some fresh air. I came back and Alex had this facial expression that I have never seen her make. I could instantly tell that the Holy Spirit was speaking through her. She had an extremely familiar daze of greatness in her eyes. She says “THIS IS GOD!!” with her arms wide open just as Jesus did when he was on the cross. “Everything is God!! God gives his children interests and talents of all things pointing back to HIM! As some people like the naturally grown trees & admire woodwork. They master the art of building and creating things becoming architectures. Just like your gift appreciates the natural blue sky and soft clouds. I, myself, have a thing for the beauty of grasslands, plants, and nature.”

The Spirit overwhelmed her into tears!! Of course, I comforted her and gave her the biggest hug possible! We went into two hours of discussing God’s greatness and the beauty of life itself. I told her to lift her hands up into the atmosphere of my apartment. So she did. I told her to leave them in the air. When you do so, you are surrendering to God. You’re also letting yourself enter into his anointing. Believe it or not, it causes God’s angels to also connect to you as well. They are always holding hands, in agreeance to God. So when you leave and pray with your hands up, the angels will attach onto you and become in agreeance with what you are saying. As long as it is apart of God’s word and goes along with God’s will. They harken onto the voice of the Lord.

“Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!” Psalms 103:20 (ESV)

My sister said she could feel the anointing. I asked her what did it feel like and she replied “GREATNESS”! I will never forget it. Oh my goodness!!! Felt so amazing to see my little sister, make a “breakthrough” with God and his word. Not only did Jesus bless us by letting my mother be an example but Kristin (my oldest sister) turned out to be an example for us as well.

A few years back, before I fully turned my life over to Christ. My older sister was going through a battle that I could not imagine taking on. The devil constantly attacked her mind. Day and night & over again. I can’t count how many sleepless nights she experienced. All I knew to do was pray for Jesus to give her supernatural strength to overcome. The devil tried to make her believe that she was a lesser person than she was. Telling her that everything she is doing would not help her make it into the kingdom of God. She ended up studying the bible faithfully. Building her armor of righteousness and gearing up her shield of faith.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

One night, she was praying in the down stairs bathroom at my mom’s house. Suddenly, she busts out of the bathroom yelling in a language I have never heard of! She came out fully speaking in tongues. My flesh wanted to run far away from her in fear. I told my little sister that I did not want to stay at that house until she stopped doing what she was doing. Little did I know, it was a blessing that she could speak straight to God in an intimate way. I was naïve at the time and did not know much about the wonderful gift of tongues. Tongues is very powerful, no devil or demon can stand to hear it.

“Therefore, if the whole church assembles and all of you speak in tongues, and the ungifted and uninitiated or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are demented?” 1 Corinthians 14:23 (AMP)

Re-read that verse and let it marinate for a few minutes. I was someone who was living of the world and by the rules of the world. I believed in God but I did not live in his will like I should’ve. I can only imagine the reaction of someone who is in total disbelief of the Lord’s existence. After I was able to calm my flesh down, the Lord convinced me to stay and not flee to my apartment. That night, I eventually asked her “What exactly were you saying??”. She told me that she was speaking blessings on our family. Blessings for each one of us, as well as a household.

“For one who speaks in tongues speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].” 1 Corinthians 14: 2 (AMP)

Fast forward a few years and the Lord has gotten me on track. Onto THE better life that he planned for me to have before I was even born. NOW I am a part of the influence for my younger sister, Alex. It was like a domino effect in our family. I can’t wait for others to be affected by his light that shines brightly within us. I am excited for our new lives that is to come to pass. God is so amazing! 🙂

Alex is on the left side (younger sister) & Kristin is on the right (older sister) 🙂 I love them dearly.
